A Not-So-Deep Dive Into Mueller’s Pools

‘Tis the season! …For splashing!

Whether you’re a longtime Mueller resident or just visiting for the day, one of the best ways to beat the Austin summer heat is with a refreshing dip in one of our neighborhood’s beautiful pools. Both Ella Wooten Park and John Gaines Park feature community pools that are open to the public between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend, and they’re some of East Austin’s best-kept secrets.

Here’s everything you need to know before you dive in:

🏊‍♀️ Pool Access & Hours

Both pools welcome nonresidents for a small daily fee (cash only—so come prepared!):

  • Adults (18+): $5

  • Juniors (12–17): $3

  • Children (11 and under): $2

  • Seniors (62+): $2

Pool Hours:

  • Weekdays: 4:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

  • Weekends: 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
    * Note: Every hour includes a 10-minute break when all swimmers (unless swimming laps) must exit the pool.

✅ Pool Rules to Know

  • Children not potty-trained must wear swim diapers and rubber pants.

  • If you hear thunder or see lightning, expect a 30-minute pool closure for safety.

  • No food or drinks (except water) allowed inside the pool gates. Enjoy snacks at the park instead!

  • Leave pets, scooters, bikes, and skateboards outside the gates.

  • Lap lanes are reserved strictly for lap swimming.

Whether you’re cooling off after a walk on the trails, bringing the kids for a weekend splash, or just exploring the community, Mueller’s public pools offer a perfect way to enjoy summer in Austin!
